PROJECT STATEMENT
The Tales of Greysia is my undergraduate installation, which consists of a 5-minute music driven film and a piece titled “Greysia’s Desk.” This project combines costuming and sound design to give life to Greysia, a young woman who longs for more than the mundane. Greysia is “caught in the greys,” a phrase that encapsulates having to exist in a state of obligation rather than fulfillment. In the midst of her greys, she catches a glimpse of a new side of herself. Is an obligation something that is only reserved for things outside of ourselves? Furthermore, is fulfillment an obligation we owe to ourselves?
“Greysia’s Desk” is a 3.5” fully functional computer that I programmed to loop video. Referencing Greysia’s workstation, this is a miniature recreation of her workspace that is completely interactive, equipped with a mouse and keyboard. Headphones are connected to listen to the three vignettes that spell out Greysia’s internal landscape: “Deep Down,” “The Woes,” and “Let It Go.”
